The northern province of Hung Yen has prepared a list of 13 enterprises that need improvement for causing environmental pollution last year.

This was revealed by Bui The Cu, deputy chairman of the provincial people’s committee.

Among the enterprises are Viet Duc Co Ltd, Nam Thai Industry Co Ltd, Mikado Joint-stock Company and Thai Duong Investment and Development Joint Stock Company.

Tests conducted by the Hung Yen Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the provincial Police Environmental Crimes Unit showed that these 13 enterprises discharged waste exceeding the regulated levels from two to 80 times.

Hoang Hop Co Ltd in My Hao District, Phu Sy Nutrition Co Ltd in An Thi District, Tinh Nhue Hung Yen Trade Co Ltd and Mikado Joint Stock Company in Van Lam District repeated violations several times at more serious levels.

The provincial people’s committee has asked these enterprises to strictly implement measures to prevent pollution before the end of July. They must join hands with competent organisations to install equipment to reduce and treat the waste. They must also upgrade their waste treatment system and operate it through proper processes.

The committee has asked the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment to coordinate with relevant organisations and district authorities to closely supervise all the enterprises in the province, and give strict punishment to violators. Enterprises completing the pollution improvement process will be removed from the list based on current regulation.
