Rich men are fed up with imported wine and favor medicinal wine, which is soaked with rare and poisonous animals like snakes, centipedes, scorpions, lizards, boucals, etc. The rarer and more poisonous animals are, the more they are favorite. Not long ago, sea snakes, which are more poisonous than snakes, have been hunted.
According to senior fishermen, around ten years ago, fishermen always threw sea snakes back to the sea if they saw them in their nets because sea snakes are poisonous and they did not know what to do with them.
But now, when sea snakes are praised as “super-aphrodisiac”, this creature is being hunted. Though its use is not proven, the prices for sea snakes have climbed to $10-35 per kilo, depending on the species.
Blood and bile of sea snakes are mixed with wine to treat diseases and enhance sexual ability for men, said the owner of a restaurant in Quang Ngai city.

This kind of wine is sold at all shops and restaurants along National Highway 1A, the section in Quang Ngai province.
Fishermen in Quang Ngai said that it is difficult to catch sea snakes these days. Sometimes they have to go to the south to purchase sea snakes. As the source of sea snakes is limited, wine sellers have used tricked to cheat buyers.
However, some fishermen are dead by sea snakes while catching them.
