VietNamNet Bridge - In addition to a visit to the Hoa Binh hydropower plant, tourists can make a boat trip along Da River, a grand river in the Northwest Region, stop at Thac Bo Cave and Thac Bo Temple worshipping Lady Thuong Ngan,and go to nearby villages of Muong people.

Hoa Binh Hydroelectric Power Plant was built from 1979 to April 1994 with the capacity of 1,920 MW, satisfying one third of Vietnam electricity consumption.

In this area are valuable structures such as the majestic granite statue of President Ho Chi Minh of 18 metre high on Ong Tuong Hill; a traditional house to keep century letters sent to later generations; a monument to memorialize Vietnamese and Soviet experts who sacrificed their lives on the hydropower project; and a cruise to visit Thac Bo Temple.

Hoa Binh City is about 70 km from Hanoi. The Hydropower plant is approximately 3km from the city.

This complex was built in the mountains and on Hoa Binh reservoir. This was a giant industrial work of Vietnam's power sector.

Before the Son La hydroelectric power plant was inaugurated, Hoa Binh was the largest hydropower plant in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, providing a third of the country’s power output. It was built with the assistance of the Soviet Uion and is considered a symbol of the friendship between the two countries.

Going through the tunnel leading to the underground generators, visitors will be introduced to the operation of the generators and how the power is transmitted to the national grid.
