The International Finance Corporation (IFC) – a member of the World Bank – signed a cooperation agreement with the Hanoi Architectural University and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture on February 26 to improve training capacity and to build a contingent of construction architects and engineers for green buildings in Vietnam.
They also opened a training course for design lecturers specialising in green buildings from February 26-28.
Accordingly, students, architects, and construction engineers will be equipped with important skills before graduation, learning about criteria for green buildings, as well as the use and management of design assessment tools.
Within the framework of cooperation between IFC and the Ministry of Construction, the courses will provide international experience in cost-saving and effective energy use, and the construction of green buildings, said deputy head of the ministry’s Department of Science-Technology and Environment Nguyen Cong Thinh.
Amid the growing populations in cities and the impacts of climate change, green buildings will improve the capacity for resilience to changing climates and meet the increasing demand for infrastructure, said experts. –VNA
