VietNamNet Bridge – Residents in Ha Long City's Cao Xanh Ward have raised concerns over mysterious land depressions, with one resident blaming the appearance of a one metre deep hole on coal mining.

The latest example of land subsidence in the ward was spotted on Wednesday morning, after the hole, with a diameter of two metres, appeared in a residential area.

Local residents feared illegal coal mining in the neighbourhood might have caused the abnormal geological phenomenon.

More than 50 local households have also recently reported that cracks appeared in the walls of their houses.
