VietNamNet Bridge – Ha Noi’s Police Department of Criminal Investigation of Social Order has issued a decision to prosecute a criminal case regarding illegal organ trading.

Police have detained Truong Minh Ngoc, 32, from Phu Tho Province and Tran Tuan Anh, 23, from Hanoi.

According to police, Duong Van Minh, 28, suffered from kidney failure in June this year and needed to find a donor, and contacted Ngoc through a social network.

Ngoc said he could find a kidney for him within two weeks for VND550 million (US$23,900) and asked him to pay a deposit of VND290 million for kidney transplant surgery.

After receiving the money, Ngoc and Anh cut off contact with him.

Under further investigation, police also discovered two other suspects who were part of the scam.

They confessed they had conned about 40 people.
