VietNamNet Bridge - Tons of fish suddenly died en masse in the Thien Quang Lake in central Hanoi on Monday morning, September 15.

Dozens of workers have been mobilized to collect the dead fish. A worker said about six tons of dead fish was gathered on the day. Local people said the fish died after the lake was dredged with fishing nets. The area had a very bad smell as well.

The Thien Quang Lake is situated in Hai Ba Trung District. The name of the lake comes from an old village that used to be in the southeast corner of the lake. Originally the lake was bigger, but during the French times, part of the lake was filled in order to build new streets. Not far from here is the Thien Quang Pagoda.
