VietNamNet Bridge - After the lunar New Year, Ha Giang has become a kingdom of peach and plum flowers. This is the best time to visit.

Ha Giang is best known as the home to the Dong Van karst plateau, a global geopark. It has an area of 2.35 square kilometers, spread over four districts of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac at an average height of 1,400 – 1,600 meters with beautiful limestone mountains and winding roads.

Here, scientists have found 33 tectonic heritages, 45 geomorphology heritages and many unique fossils in sedimentary rock. The area has become a tourist attraction, and has brought income to indigenous people.

Because of its unique geology, in late 2010, Dong Van karst plateau was recognized as the first geological park of Vietnam and the first geopark of the world. Dong Van karst plateau is a special limestone mountain, including the marks of the history of the earth’s crust process and the traditions of indigenous communities.

Besides geological value, Dong Van karst plateau also attracts tourists for its unique cultural and spiritual values associated with the ethnic Mong, Dao and Lo Lo people living on the plateau.
