The photo contest launched by Nhan Dan (The People) newspaper’s television channel drew 8,000 entries. An award ceremony was held in Hanoi on December 20. First prize was given to Hoang Bich Nhung in Ho Chi Minh City for her photo Dat Vo (Land of Martial Arts). Eleven monthly sub-contests were held, artworks that won the monthly competitions qualified for the final round. Nguyen Thi Le Suong from Dong Nai Province won the second prize for her photo Trong Vong Tay Ngoai (In grandmother’s hands). Photographers take artworks in different themes, including locals’ daily lives at year-end, festivals and Vietnam’s heritage, among others. 30 Tet (New Year’s Eve) taken by Tran Duy Tinh from Binh Duong Province is awarded the third prize.
