On the hillside or valleys in Da Lat are dozens of glasshouses where delicious fruits and vegetables or beautiful flower species are planted.

One of the fruits grown in greenhouses are a strawberry species from New Zealand and Japan, which are sweeter and more fragrant than the varieties planted outdoors. Their prices are always high and supply is always less than demand for these fruits.

These strawberry trees are watered automatically.

The trees are well protected from diseases.

Although the productivity is low, the cultivation area in glasshouses is increased thanks to the use of frames.

The price for one kilo of strawberries in the glasshouses is from VND220,000 to VND250,000 ($10-12), while the price for normal strawberries in Da Lat is only VND25,000 ($1.2) per kilo. 

This strawberry species is relatively rare in Da Lat.

Some gardens have successfully planted a Japanese sweet tomato variety, using organic methods. 

This is a super sweet tomato species.

This tomato species can be preserved for three months. 

Da Lat’s soil and climate are also ideal for flower cultivation. 

Up to 60-70 percent of Da Lat’s flower area is devoted to new varieties of chrysanthemum and the remaining area is for the growing of roses, carnations, lily, etc.

In 2013, Da Lat produced nearly two billion flower branches, more than 300 million branches over 2012. 

Twenty years ago, Da Lat flowers were only provided to local people. Today, Da Lat flowers are available throughout the country and exported to many Asian and European countries.
