VietNamNet Bridge - The first banknotes representing independence and freedom of Vietnam have the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh.
On 3/2/1946, according to the policy of the Government, the banknotes of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam were launched throughout the South Central region.
The first banknotes were not beautiful and they were printed on poor-quality paper but they were warmly welcomed by the people because they represented independence and freedom of Vietnam.
These banknotes became a formidable weapon on the economic-financial and monetary front at that time, especially in the elimination of the Indochinese currency of the French.
