Indian ‘Disco King’ Bappi Lahiri rocked the Diwali Gala 2010 show at Sheraton Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 Friday night.

He was also accompanied with other Indian and Vietnamese artists during the show.
This year event, hosted by the Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam (Incham) as usual, showcased a fantastic spread of India dishes which are widely acknowledged all over the world.
It welcomed about 1,000 guests, from Indian to foreign expats and Vietnamese people, and raised VND110 million for Phu My Orphanage in HCMC.
Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights, symbolizes the victory of good over evil, the spirit of kindness and the joy of sharing.
Considered as one of the biggest Indian festivals, Diwali is celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness over India for five days with the main celebrations held on the third day.
On the special day, there are firework shows and diyas ceremony, which people light up cotton string wicks inserted into small pots fills with oil. People also light up candles all around their houses as a symbol of victory of good over the evil within an individual.
The people also offer prayers to Goddess Lakshmi -- The Goddess of Wealth – and seeking blessings from her, then wear new clothes and exchange gifts.
