Indian Naval Ship visits Haiphong
The Indian naval ship INS Shivalik carrying more than500 officers and crew anchored at Chua Ve port in Haiphong city on August 5.
During their stay in Vietnam from August 5-8, they will pay a courtesy visit to Haiphong leaders, provide technical support for Vietnamese naval soldiers, and offer medical check-up and gifts to orphans and disabled pupils.
They will also conduct cultural and sports exchanges with students at Vietnam Maritime University.
India has sent naval ships to Haiphong since 1958.The city has welcomed 6 Indian naval ships since 2008. The latest visit took place in 2012 by INS Shivalik and INS Karmuk with 427 officers and crew.
However, Indian investments into Haiphong remain modest with only two projects worth US$10.48 million.
Japanese politician greeted in capital
President Truong Tan Sang hosted a reception in Ha Noi yesterday for former acting President of Japan's Democratic Party Sengoku Yoshito.
The President expressed his pleasure that high-level commitments had effectively been carried out by the two sides shortly after his visit to Japan in March.
He welcomed Sengoku Yoshito's proposal on a field trip to Vietnamese localities, adding that the two sides had a lot of potential for co-operation.
While agreeing with the proposals on agriculture co-operation, he said that Vietnamese and Japanese localities were working effectively in tuna fishing and applying bio-technology. Sengoku Yoshito stressed on the attention of Japan's Lower House to implementing agriculture and personnel training projects in Viet Nam.
He hoped the co-operation programmes would get the support of Vietnamese ministries and sectors. He said, agricultural models in Ibaraki prefecture would be useful for Viet Nam. He valued the application of Japan's bio-technology in some Vietnamese localities such as Da Lat city in the Central Highlands Lam Dong Province.
Vice NA Chairwoman welcomes Auditor General of Bhutan
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan received in Hanoi on August 5 Auditor General of Bhutan Dasho Ugen Chweqang.
The Vice Chairwoman highly valued the cooperation between the two auditing agencies of Vietnam and Bhutan, saying that they beefed up cooperative ties by exchanging high-level visits and sharing experience in public auditing.
The State Audit of Vietnam is drafting some amendments and supplements to the 2006 Law on State Auditing, expected to be submitted to the National Assembly in 2015, Ngan said.
She proposed the two auditing agencies share information and learn from each other to serve law amending work.
Ngan said she hopes for the two agencies’ further development, which will contribute to friendship and understanding between the two countries.
Auditor General Dasho Ugen Chewang said his working visit to Vietnam is to strengthen connection between the two auditing agencies.
He briefed the host on the outcomes of the talks between the two agencies, saying that both sides discussed orientations for future cooperation and agreed to focus on sharing experience in auditing work, information technology auditing in order to maintain and develop their fine links.
The official expressed his wish that the two sides will discuss possibility for partnership in auditing, personnel training, sharing expertise and bettering the auditing process and method of each side.
Vietnam, Laos army mass organisations foster ties
A senior Vietnamese military official has lauded the coordination between mass organisations of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and their Lao counterparts in recent years.
Welcoming a delegation from mass organisations of the Lao People’s Army in Hanoi on August 5, Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Trong Nghia, deputy head of the VPA’s General Department of Politics, further said the two sides’ mass organisations have closely worked together in many activities, especially in the exchange of delegations, sharing of experience, and professional training.
Colonel Buakham Khumisuk, head of the Lao People’s Army Trade Union, said that his delegation gained valuable experience in organising mass movements during the visit.
The guest expressed his hope that the VPA’s General Department of Politics will continue creating favourable conditions for the two countries’ armies and their mass organisations to further their links in the future.
