The 14-year-old talent won the championship title in the International Master (IM) category with a total of six points.
Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh came second, while third positions went to Lee Jun Hyeok of the Republic of Korea, and Setyaki Azarya Jodi of Indonesia.
In the Grandmaster (GM) category, both Vietnamese and Bangladeshi teams shared first prize after nine rounds.
The tournament also includes the FIDE Master title which is one of the official titles a chess player can receive from the International Chess Federation (FIDE). Nguyen Thanh Liem of Vietnam claimed the championship title after scoring eight points.
IM is the second highest official chess title, after International Grandmaster (GM). Previously, the Vietnamese players who wanted to complete their IM or GM standards often had to go abroad to participate in competitions. However, the Hanoi International Chess Tournament may help them to save both time and traveling costs.
The upcoming tournament is scheduled to take place in May 2024.
