Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong highlighted time-honoured Vietnam-India relations over the past 50 years, noting there remains ample room for future cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor technology.

He went on to reveal that the information technology (IT) and digital technology industry in Vietnam has experienced outstanding advancements over the past decade, growing by between 15% and 20% with the engagement of renowned groups such as Samsung and LG.

Phuong attributed the success to the Vietnamese Government’s deliberate policies, including the development of concentrated IT parks and the acceleration of software production activities to support foreign-invested firms in the country.

Furthermore, there have been other strategies devised, including AI ​​development until 2030 with the goal of turning AI into a crucial sphere.

The Government of Vietnam is expected to formulate a project to develop a workforce for the semiconductor industry until 2030, as well as issuing a law on digital technology industry by 2025, he added.

Murthy for his part expressed his respect for the courage, diligence, discipline, and ambition shown by generations of Vietnamese people, especially tech savvy developers. He expressed his belief that many countries around the world would learn from the creativity of Vietnamese people.

The event saw the Indian billionaire share his practical experiences in business, management, and corporate culture building, which has turned Infosys from an unknown company into a global tech firm. Infosys is now employing over 160,400 workers in more than 30 countries worldwide, generating annual revenue of over US$8 billion.

He also talked to the Vietnamese technology community about promoting innovation among businesses, the development of new technology trends, as well as opportunities for the Vietnamese IT industry.
