Each troupe will have approximately 60 minutes to perform musical pieces ranging from dance performances, to music recitals and instrumental pieces. A judging panel will award gold, silver and bronze medals for winning performances.
The festival is an opportunity for artists to meet, interact and witness the creative offerings of other countries within the ASEAN community.
The festival also aims to strengthen ties and boost co-operation in the field of art and culture, said Nguyen Dang Chuong, director of the department.
International troupes will represent their native culture and develop friendships with artists from around the ASEAN community including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Viet Nam, Chuong said.
Domestic art groups will focus on representing Viet Nam's achievements and aspirations for peace, prosperity and social justice, Chuong said.
All performances may be viewed by the public, free of charge. Troupes are also expected to tour other districts within the province.
