The International Federation of Red Crossand Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) on September 23 said an estimated 57,000people remain homeless, unsure where and when they can rebuild their homes.

IFRC Indonesia voiced its hope that the Indonesiangovernment will redouble its efforts to identify settlement areas and helpthousands of families build permanent homes with infrastructure that is moreresilient to future disasters.

The World Bank previously offered a loanworth 1 billion USD to rebuild Palu city.

A 7.5 magnitude earthquake and tsunamiwhich occurred on September 28 last year killed more than 4,300 people and forcedabout 170,000 residents to evacuate. The disasters turned the ground into liquidmud and destroyed many areas in Central Sulawesi province./.VNA
