VietNamNet Bridge – The Government Inspectorate has given priority to responding to civil complaints and claims by dealing with over 81 per cent of cases submitted during the first quarter of the year.

Meanwhile, local authorities have also been active in dealing with civil complaints as they solved 52 per cent of complaints at the local level.

Le Tien Hao, deputy chief inspector of the Inspectorate shared the findings at a meeting held in Ha Noi on April 16, that was aimed at providing a review on the inspectorate's activities during the first four months.

The review was based on the results of three reports: one on land management and mineral exploitation in central Binh Dinh Province; another on construction investment and land use in southern Vinh Long Province; and a third report on the project of the National Shooting Ground Zone No. 1 based on northern Bac Giang Province.

During the first quarter, the Inspectorate detected economic violations that cost over VND816 billion (US$39 million) and proposed to collect VND682 billion ($32.8 million) for the national budget.

The inspectorate has also submitted 8 cases of civil complaints and denunciations to the Prime Minister's consideration sent from local people in the provinces of Khanh Hoa and Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Da Nang and HCM City.

At the local level, local authorities have also proposed the collection of over VND7,4 trillion (nearly $356 million) and over 3,500 square meters of land for the Government and the pay back of VND1.5 trillion (more than $72 million) and return of over 30,100 square meters of land to citizens.

More than 120 local people in many provinces and cities also have either had their names cleared or got compensation thanks to local investigations.
