Vietnam accepted 241 out of 291 recommendations made by member countries, including important and comprehensive contents of human rights assurance.

The upcoming year 2020 is going to be a pivotal year in implementing many important socio-economic development programs and plans that directly affect the enjoyment of the rights of the people. It is going to be the first year that Vietnam carries out National Plans to implement the results of the UPR Third Cycle, the reporting - review results at many committees of important human rights conventions.

Also, 2020 is going to be the year that Vietnam will assume the most important positions at international and regional organizations, realizing the Party's important guidelines on "promoting and enhancing multilateral foreign relations."

More and more evidences and data on Vietnam's strong progress in ensuring human rights are gathered in the National Report under the UPR Third Cycle, approved by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in July 2019.

The UPR is the mechanism of the UN Human Rights Council, under which all UN member states have to review policies, laws, measures and results achieved in protecting and promoting human rights.

The most outstanding event in 2019 is Vietnam’s completion of the UPR Third Cycle with very positive results.

Vietnam accepted 241 out of 291 recommendations made by member countries, reaching nearly 83%, including important and comprehensive contents of human rights assurance, especially the improvement of the legal systems, measures to ensure civil and political rights, as well as economic, social and cultural rights, and strengthening institutions to protect human rights and new issues on migration, climate change, environment and sustainable development. This shows Vietnam's desire and determination in protecting and promoting human rights.
