VietNamNet Bridge - The 20th World Police Band Concert took place in Ho Chi Minh City from November 14-15, drawing 200 participants from Japan, the US, Singapore and Vietnam.
The event, jointly held by the Ministry of Public Security and Japan’s Mainichi newspaper, opened with a parade of bands in the city's downtown in the morning. They departed from the HCM City Opera House and travel through Dong Khoi, Ton Duc Thang and Nguyen Hue streets.
The main concert entertained audience on the afternoon of November 15 at Hoa Binh Theatre, with classical and contemporary music.
This was the second time the music festival organized in Vietnam, after the first in Hanoi in 2011. The 60-strong Vietnam Police Band represented Vietnam during this year’s concert.
Deputy Head of the Ministry of Public Security’s External Relations Agency Vu Ngoc Lan said that the event helped intensify cooperation between Vietnam and participating countries while promoting the image of Vietnamese police in the international arena.
Initiated by the Mainichi newspaper, the World Police Band Concert has been organised annually since 1996 in numerous countries.
