VietNamNet Bridge – More than 100 athletes from nearly 30 countries performed spectacular acrobatics and water skiing techniques at the International Water Skiing Tournament in Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan. 


The tournament opened in the afternoon of February 25 with the participation of 116 athletes from 29 countries.

They are professional athletes who compete in salmon and freestyle categories.

Three Vietnamese amateur players join the tournament, including Truong Ky Tu, Truong Ky Tan

and Nguyen Van Rot. Vietnam doesn’t have professional water skiing players at this moment.

Bonus worth from Eur70,000-80,000 will be presented to the top 20 players.

Athletes compete in freestyle category in the first day.

The event marks the start of the National Tourism Year 2011 of central province. 

According to organizers, the International Water Skiing Tournament aims to

promote the Binh Thuan tourism industry and showcase Vietnamese sea tourism products.

A series of activities such as music performances, a photo exhibition titled “Sea and life”,

seminars on “Yacht manufacturing, marketing and trading” and “Developing Vietnam’s

maritime tourism trademark” will be part of the event.
