The tournament, co-organised by the Vietnam Badminton Federation (VBF), Da Nang’s Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the Da Nang Badminton Federation, is being held at the Tuyen Son Sports Complex until October 5 as part of the Badminton World Federation’s competition system.

Players will compete in five events, including the men’s singles, the men’s doubles, the women’s singles, the women’s doubles and the mixed doubles event. The cash prizes total 5,000 USD.

A number of players are expected to do particularly well, including Andre Marteen from Indonesia (Rank 124); Chia Hung Lu from Taiwan, China (Rank 136); and Lydia Li Ya Cheah from Malaysia (Rank 217). Meanwhile, Vietnamese players Vu Thi Trang (Rank 75) and Le Thu Huyen (Rank 187) are likely to win individual medals.

According to the Vice President and General Secretary of the VBF, Le Thanh Sang, Da Nang could host the Vietnam International Series in 2016 if sponsors and an organising committee are found in time.

The series aims to provide Vietnamese players the chance to gain experience and improve their positions in the global ranking table.
