Nearly 500 runners from 40 countries are expected to compete in the 70-km ultra international Vietnam Mountain Marathon 2014 taking place in the northern Vietnam mountains in Hoang Lien National Park from Sept. 18-22.
Danish Ambassador to Vietnam John Nielsen made the announcement at a press conference in Hanoi on September 17.
Nielsen said in his opinion, the Mountain Marathon in Vietnam is one of the most beautiful settings for a race in the world.
With the support of Novo Nordisk-the world leading pharmaceutical company, and the Vietnamese Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology (VADE), the event also conveys a message ‘Changing diabetes’ with the aim of raising awareness of the fast growth of diabetes in Vietnam.
This year’s event offers runners four distance choices, 10km (Sapa mountain run), 21km (half marathon), 42km (marathon) or 70km (ultramarathon).
Currently, registration is still open for the 10-km route at eco-friendly resort Topas Ecolodge which is located at 24 Muong Hoa Str, Sapa.
