The Committee also disclosed that the total number of hospitalised cases is now 568, with 138 people now discharged from the hospital.
Previously, as reported by the VNA, from the evening of May 1, the Long Khánh Regional General Hospital began receiving and treating numerous suspected food poisoning victims after they consumed bread from Bakery B. in Xuân Bình Ward, Long Khánh City.
The Health Center and the Health Department of Long Khánh City conducted inspections and requested the temporary suspension of business operations at the bakery until the competent authorities concluded. They also cooperated in investigating the cause of the incident.
During the inspection and investigation process, it was noted that the bread shop in question, which served approximately 1,000 loaves per day, operated without a business license at the stated address and lacked a certificate of food safety conditions. Additionally, four individuals working directly at the shop did not possess certification of training in food safety knowledge or health check certificates.
However, according to regulations, it is necessary to await the test results from the HCMC Institute of Public Health to substantiate the act of "selling food causing food poisoning" by the business owner.
Tăng Quốc Lập, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Long Khánh City, stated that among the over 560 food poisoning cases, the most severe cases are among children. As the incident had particularly serious consequences within the locality, the People's Committee has transferred documents related to the bakery to the investigative police authority of Long Khánh City to conduct further investigations.
