In a document from the Government Office sent to the Minister of Education and Training (MOET), dated October 7, it was reported by several media outlets that the quality of meals provided to students during two weeks of National Defense and Security education was unsatisfactory.

In response to this issue, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has instructed the MOET to collaborate with relevant agencies and local authorities to promptly investigate and strictly handle any violations in accordance with regulations.

The Deputy Prime Minister also urged the MOET to enhance management and monitoring of food safety measures for students at educational institutions, ensuring the quality and safety of meals and preventing similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Earlier, on the morning of October 8, Major General Tran Ngoc Thanh, Head of the National Defense and Security Education Department (MOET), along with local health authorities, conducted direct inspections of the school's kitchens.

As reported by VietNamNet, new students at Hanoi University of Science and Technology had to eat leftover meals during their national defense and security classes. Moreover, some students stated that they had frequently discovered foreign objects, such as cockroaches, in their food.

Upon receiving this information, the university's administration took direct responsibility, issued an apology, and affirmed their commitment to publicly address and penalize all individuals and groups involved to protect the students' rights.

“This is an unfortunate incident. Hanoi University of Science and Technology extends its apologies and hopes to receive understanding and support from parents and students. The university always welcomes feedback from society and students to improve its activities,” said a representative of the university.
