On October 9, Mr. Lai Van Duong, Chairman of Nghia Loc Commune (Nghia Dan District, Nghe An Province), stated that relevant authorities are verifying and clarifying the situation regarding the six preschoolers who were found bruised.

“Last night, we worked with the school, teachers, parents, and some involved children. The Department of Education and Training (DoET) has also tasked the principal with temporarily suspending the teacher (Ms. Dao Thi Soa). However, as there are still some opinions to consider, we must wait for the competent authorities to conclude before taking further action,” said Mr. Duong.

The family of child C.D.M. (from class A2) reported that M. suffered multiple hits to the head and face, resulting in an unstable psychological state and requiring continued treatment at the hospital. The police have also visited the family to clarify the incident.

“The family did not expect M. would be harmed to such an extent by classmates, so we hope the authorities will investigate and clarify the situation soon,” a relative of M. shared.

Regarding the incident, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan, Chief of the Office of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, informed that the Department has directed the Department of Education and Training of Nghia Dan District to work directly with the school and monitor the health situation to facilitate the children’s return to school as soon as possible.

The Department also requires the school to conduct a thorough review, clarify responsibilities, and address any violations by individuals or groups as necessary, with the results to be reported to the Department by October 15.

“From this unfortunate incident, the Department of Education and Training requests local departments and schools to regularly monitor and check the care and education activities for children at preschool facilities to ensure their safety,” Mr. Hoan stated.

As reported by VietNamNet, Class A2 at Nghia Loc Preschool has 43 children, managed by two teachers: Ms. Tran Quynh Mai and Ms. Le Thi Ly. On the afternoon of October 7, Nghia Loc Preschool assigned Ms. Mai to update school information in the health office database while Ms. Ly prepared teaching materials for a professional workshop planned by the Department of Education and Training of Nghia Dan.

During this time, the school arranged for Ms. Dao Thi Soa (born 1986, a teacher for the 3-year-old class C1) to manage the class.

While Ms. Soa was in charge, at around 2:30 PM, six children in the class were reported to have sustained bruises (possibly from being hit) at various levels on their bodies. The homeroom teacher only noticed this at the end of the day when the children were being sent home. Immediately afterward, the school, teachers, and parents took the children for examinations, with two requiring hospitalization for observation and treatment.

After the incident, the Nghia Dan District People's Committee directed relevant departments to cooperate with the school and local authorities to promptly verify and clarify the situation.
