Fresh leaks suggest Apple is preparing significant changes to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, including a redesigned frame, larger battery, and revamped internal layout.

According to reports, Apple plans to return to aluminum frames for its Pro models (iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max), replacing the titanium used in recent generations. The new design will feature an aluminum-glass back, which could reduce weight and improve heat dissipation, though it may be less scratch-resistant than titanium.

Leaked images show a larger internal compartment for the battery. Sources indicate the iPhone 17 Pro Max may carry a battery exceeding 5,000mAh, the biggest in iPhone history. The increase is partly due to a slightly thicker chassis, and Apple is rumored to be integrating vapor-chamber cooling for better thermal management.

Another noticeable change is the repositioning of the MagSafe charging coil, while the logic board design also appears reworked to support new hardware and enhance cooling.

The camera system is also expected to see major upgrades. The iPhone 17 Pro Max could feature a 48MP telephoto lens with up to 8x optical zoom, and possibly a shiftable telephoto system that flexibly switches between 5x and 8x zoom.

Other rumored specs include Apple’s new A19 Pro chip built on TSMC’s 3nm process, 12GB RAM, Wi-Fi 7, and 25W wireless charging. The front camera may be upgraded to 24MP, and new color options like metallic copper and deep blue are expected.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup on September 9, consistent with its annual launch schedule. The iPhone 17 Pro Max will debut alongside the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro, with sales expected to begin later that month.

If accurate, the upgrades will make the iPhone 17 Pro Max the lightest and coolest Pro Max yet, while delivering record-breaking battery life and the most advanced telephoto zoom system ever on an iPhone.
