One of the most notable changes to the iPhone 17 Pro was Apple’s bold design overhaul, particularly the camera system and color palette. The new color options quickly drew attention, while the horizontally extended camera module appeared to generate relatively little controversy.
There was, however, one detail that divided users: the contrasting colors of the rear glass and aluminum frame, which gave the phone a distinctly two-tone appearance.
According to information shared by Weibo leaker Instant Digital, Apple may address this issue on the iPhone 18 Pro by redesigning the rear glass.
The source says the back of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup will be refined to reduce the color difference between the glass section and the aluminum backplate. The aim is to create a more uniform and seamless appearance.
If accurate, the change would likely be welcomed by users who were not fans of the iPhone 17 Pro’s two-tone design. Apple appears to be moving toward a more harmonious overall look, rather than having the glass and aluminum frame appear like two distinctly colored materials.
Dynamic Island could finally get smaller
Apple first introduced Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro four years ago. Since then, the feature has remained largely unchanged, despite persistent rumors that Apple has been working on ways to make it smaller.
That could change with the iPhone 18 Pro.
According to leaked information, Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be around 35% smaller than on the current generation. It could become one of the most immediately noticeable visual changes for users upgrading to the new iPhone.
To achieve this, Apple is reportedly planning to move some components used by the Face ID system beneath the display. However, not all Face ID hardware is expected to be hidden under the screen.
That means Apple is not yet making a complete transition to the hole-punch display design seen on many Android smartphones. Dynamic Island could become considerably smaller, but Apple appears intent on retaining its distinctive design for at least one more generation.
iPhone 18 Pro could arrive in bold new colors
One of the surprises of the iPhone 17 Pro was Apple’s decision to move away from traditional colors such as white, black and gray, bringing bolder choices to its Pro lineup instead.
Cosmic Orange, in particular, made a strong impression on the market, suggesting that Apple’s strategy of introducing more striking colors to its premium iPhones may have paid off.
With the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple is reportedly set to continue that trend. Current leaks point to at least three colors: Dark Cherry, Silver and Light Blue.
Dark Cherry is expected to serve as the centerpiece of Apple’s marketing campaign. The shade has been described as a blend of burgundy red, coffee brown and deep purple, giving it a look that is both sophisticated and distinctive.
Beyond those three colors, conflicting reports remain over whether Apple could bring back Space Gray or Black. If confirmed, either could become a fourth color option for the iPhone 18 Pro.
Overall, the iPhone 18 Pro does not appear set for a complete overhaul of Apple’s design language. Instead, the company seems to be focusing on details that could make a significant difference to the phone’s visual experience.
