Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Vietnam Mohammad Mirali Mohammadi said the Iranian Foreign Ministry is maintaining close coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy to update the situation and assist Vietnamese citizens living in Iran amid the ongoing conflict.

At a press briefing held by the Iranian Embassy in Hanoi on March 4, Mohammadi responded to a question from VietNamNet about the situation of Vietnamese citizens in Iran.
He expressed regret that the Vietnamese community in Iran is currently living under tense conditions due to the impact of the conflict.
According to Mohammadi, the Iranian government is making efforts to create the most favorable conditions possible for Vietnamese citizens living and working in the country.
“The Iranian Foreign Ministry always maintains close contact with the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran to update the situation and provide support to Vietnamese citizens when necessary. Previously, Iran’s efforts during the 12-day conflict in 2025 were also recognized and welcomed by the Vietnamese government,” he said.
The Iranian chargé d’affaires also praised international efforts to promote peace. According to him, Vietnam has consistently supported peaceful solutions to disputes based on international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
At the briefing, Mohammadi also provided updates on the current situation in Iran. According to figures released by Iran, more than 800 Iranian civilians have been killed in attacks by the US and Israel targeting Tehran.
Despite the tense situation, Mohammadi said Iran’s political system and leadership apparatus continue to operate normally. The country has established an interim leadership council and filled several senior leadership positions.
He stressed that the airstrikes by the US and Israel violated Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter.
“Tehran strongly condemns all violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and we are exercising our right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. At the same time, Tehran supports resolving disagreements through dialogue and diplomatic measures,” Mohammadi emphasized.
Tensions between Iran, Israel and the US have escalated since 2025, after Israel carried out attacks targeting Iranian military sites and facilities linked to its missile and nuclear programs.
The two sides have conducted multiple rounds of attacks and counterattacks, including a period of direct fighting lasting 12 days before a temporary ceasefire was reached.
On the morning of February 28, the US and Israel launched a new operation targeting Iran, striking defense and intelligence facilities as well as a number of senior officials and military commanders in Tehran.
The attacks by the US and Israel reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with several senior officials. Iran subsequently launched retaliatory operations targeting Israeli territory and multiple bases hosting US forces across the Middle East.
