Mobifone issues new policy on subscribers
Telecom service supplier Mobifone has implemented new policies for subscriber convertibility from January 19.
Customers have now been able to switch subscribe numbers at any time. The minimum fee for is VND5,000 per time. The maximum conversion is 10 per cent of the value of the account.
Those who want to change their SIM card will be offered free alternatives if they become post-paid subscribers.
Satellite television launches PC channel
Viet Nam Satellite Digital Television (VSTV) has officially launched its subscriber K+ Style (K+PC) channel. The family package will have 58 domestic and international channels.
K+PC entertainment channels cover culture, cuisine, tourism and sports.
Programmes will also feature K+PC home decoration and caring for trees.
Thang Long company goes digital
Thang Long Audio-visual JSC has set up Thang Long Digital Viet Nam to service audio-visual products.
The company will provide the programme for domestic and international markets through the websites www.thanglongfm and wap.thanglongfm.net.
Vu Trong Khiem, director of Thang Long Digital Viet Nam, said demand for TV entertainment would mainly come from teenagers.
VinaPhone records high growth
The country's third largest mobile operator, VinaPhone, said newly registered mobile subscriber numbers reached 10 million in 2010, a growth rate of 30 per cent.
VinaPhone said it had 35 million subscribers at the end of 2010.
The operator earned revenue of VND28.1 trillion ($1.4 billion) in 2010, a year-on-year increase of 37.2 per cent against 2009. Value-added services accounted for 21 per cent of the total revenue.
Meanwhile, VinaPhone's revenue was nearly 28 per cent of its parent VNPT Group's total revenue in 2010. The network now has 22,000 base transceiver stations, enabling the network to serve an additional 30 million users.
