The Azzurri's new striking partners Giuseppe Rossi and Antonio Cassano did not wait too long before scoring in the 21st and 39th minutes, and gave the hosts a comfortable 2-0 lead before break.

Giampaolo Pazzini came off the bench in the second half to score Italy's third goal in the 68th minute.

This is Italy's fifth win in their six competitive matches under coach Cesare Prandelli, and now they garnered 16 points ahead of second-placed Slovenia.
