The consulate General of the US in HCM City will host a film screening of Jack of the Red Hearts, directed by Janet Grillo -- an award winning filmmaker and Emmy Award winning producer – in Da Nang on Friday.

A scene of film Jack of the Red Hearts, which will be screened in Da Nang on March 17th. 


The film, part of the American Film Showcase in Viet Nam, features Jack – a teenage runaway on the lam from her parole officer.

The conniving kid impersonates a trained caregiver and forms a unique bond with an 11 year-old autistic girl named Glory. 

The child’s mother Kay, also bonds with the imposter, as a surrogate daughter she can talk to. And the girl’s cute older brother Robert falls in love. 

When the deception is exposed and the cops descend, loving father Mark struggles to hold his family together.

The audience and young Vietnamese filmmakers will have the chance to share experience with the director – Janet Grillo – in an exchange in the central city on the day.

Janet is the mother of an adult son on the autism spectrum, and a former board member of cure autism.

The film and the director talk will be held at Le Do Cinema, 46 Tran Phu Street, from 2pm to 5pm.
