japanese comedic stage art introduced at temple of literature picture 1

The performance put on by two Japanese artists Ogasawara Tadashi and Ogasawara Hiroaki is expected to enthrall audiences through a display of interesting plays.

Visitors will also have the chance to enjoy an exhibition held at the Temple of Literature, displaying 20 Nohgaku masks created by Japanese craftsman Ogasawara Tadashi.

Participants will also be able to hold exchanges with Tadashi to gain a better understanding about the traditional Japanese art.

Kyogen is a form of comedy that mainly describes the daily life of ordinary people in the middle ages. Unlike Noh, most of the plays are performed without masks, with a universal humanity being depicted through laughter.

The event is part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations this year.

A link for ticket registration will be updated on the website of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam on May 4.
