VietNamNet Bridge – The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange will stage Yo Nakamura’s short contemporary dancing piece entitled “Good Bye” at the Youth Theater on September 24 and 25 as a part of Europe Meets Asia in Contemporary Dance 2014 in Hanoi.

In the 20-minute dancing peace of Yokohama Dance Collection 2013 won the Jury Prize and the Sibiu International Theater Festival Prize. In the work, Nakamura uses text from the “Tokyo Story” and “An Autumn Afternoon” films by Yasujiro Ozu to feature the gap between conversation and mind.

Nakamura joined the world of contemporary dance through the modern dance club of Waseda University. She started to choreograph by herself in 2010, using all the elements of music, words, narratives, props, and relationships to create pieces attractive to the audience.

Nakamura has developed a workshop program called “Pop Song Switches” for participants to learn how to dance like those in popular songs and the program has been implemented in various places in Japan.

Besides, she has aided in stage direction and choreography for a theater production at New National Theater in Tokyo.

Free tickets for the dancing peace will be available from 12 p.m. on September 17 at the center at 27 Quang Trung Street, Goethe Institute at 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, and L’Espace at 24 Trang Tien Street.
