Tsutomu Mimatsu, 38, a salesman for a Japanese company, and his wife, Erika Mimatsu, a nutritionist, had a chance to pay a working visit to Vietnam and live in Ho Chi Minh City.

When they asked a Vietnamese friend to locate a venue for the backdrop for their bridal photos, the friend suggested a traditional Vietnamese-style outdoor setting.

Taking their friend’s advice, the couple had a memorable photo shoot in paddy fields in Long An Province and lotus ponds in southern Dong Thap Province. The bride and groom, in traditional Vietnamese outfits - “ao ba ba” (traditional costumes for southern people), “khan ran” (black-white checked bandana), and “non la” (conical hat) – looked very content and just like real native farmers.

Tsutomu Mimatsu said in Japan, couples typically take two types of wedding photos – one in studio and another at the wedding party.

Taking outdoor bridal photos, popular in Vietnam, provided a very enjoyable experience, he shared.

The couple said that they will share their special experiences in Vietnam with their friends when they return home.
