Japanese expert Kazuyoshi Tanabe.
Mr. Tanabe was personally introduced by J-League Chairman Kazumi Ohigashi to the VPF. Tanabe signed a one-year contract with the VPF, as the special advisor for VPF Chairman Vo Quoc Thang. While working in Vietnam (from February 20 to the end of April,) he traveled throughout the country to learn about football clubs in Vietnam, before making a development strategy for Vietnam football in the future.
While working in Vietnam, Tanabe was informed of his father’s death in late April. He returned home to mourn for his father. After the funeral, he was hospitalized in a state of depression. He is now in Japan for medical treatment.
The VPF highly expected that Tanabe will bring about a lot of new things for Vietnam football. Right from the start, the Japanese expert identified a number of challenges that he would have to face. In addition to help the VPF improve the efficiency of its management, Tanabe will have to help it to handle the existing problems associated with the referees, security and training of young players.
Tanabe said he would spend time to learn about each FC in Vietnam and then upgrade the national young team and the national team. After that, the Japanese expert will provide the roadmap and outline directions for the development of Vietnam football. The biggest objective of the Japanese expert is how to attract the Vietnamese fans to stadiums.
