VietNamNet Bridge – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Viet Nam signed a $800,000 grant agreement yesterday, March 14, to improve irrigation and drainage in the northern provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang and Bac Ninh.

The technical assistance grant will finance preparation activities for the Water Resources Development in the Mid-and Northeast Song Hong (Red River) Delta Project, which is expected to upgrade infrastructure on more than 50,000ha in the provinces. It will also promote training for staff in this sector.

Funded by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction and administered by ADB, the grant is part of ADB's effort to help the Government more effectively use its natural resources and reduce poverty.
