Three of the hottest rock acts from the Land of the Rising Sun, Okamoto's, Electric Eel Shock and Molice, will hit the stage during the event.
Young and dynamic, Okamoto's have been considered by many as Japan's fastest rising stars. The group of 20 year olds has made a name for themselves over the last three years based on their intense stage shows and brash, raw sound. The three-member group made their debut in Viet Nam at the C.A.M.A Festival 2011 in May. Tomorrow, the band will showcase their third album, Kick out the Eyes, which was released earlier this year.
Formed in Tokyo in the late 1990s, Electric Eel Shock (EES) is a three-piece garage metal band. The band's manager is a comedian and Japan's first-ever karaoke champion and his amusing influence comes forth in their fun style. Their drummer is famed for playing with four drumsticks to increase the power of his sound.
The band recently toured the festival circuit in Europe and America and staged shows in many cities as well. They won the Best Music Act of the Year at the NEO Awards hosted by the NEO magazine because of its danceable rock tunes crafted by frontman Aki Morimoto.
Molice, a staple of the Tokyo club scene, have been playing for wide audiences since 2007. Tomorrow, the band is expected to bring a new sound and the same enthusiastic attitude they showed at the 2010 C.A.M.A Festival in Ha Noi.
Two Ha Noi bands, Ngu Cung (Pentatonic) and Rosewood, will also take the Go!Go!Japan! stage at the Giang Vo Exhibition Centre.
The quintet Ngu Cung has been hailed as one of the most technically impressive bands in Viet Nam for their selection of progressive rock/metal with strong cultural and traditional flavours. Founded in 2007 before the Tiger Translate, a contest for Vietnamese rock bands, they won the prize for Best Band. Known for expressing Vietnamese identity and culture through their music, Ngu Cung know how to please a crowd.
Rising from the ashes of local rock/numetal bands Buratinox and SmallFire, alternative rockers Rosewood have gone on to become one of Viet Nam's leading live acts. Building a reputation for stirring sing-alongs and power ballads, the four-member band has won fans around the nation with their performances at rock showcases including Rockstorm, Tiger Translate Metropolis and the CAMA Festival.
Hosted by CAMA in conjunction with the Japan Foundation, the rock fiesta will start at 6pm at 148 Giang Vo Street.
Tickets are VND60,000 in advance from all Highway 4 restaurants and the Japan Foundation, or VND80,000 at the door.
