The information was confirmed by a source from VPF.

Tanaka arrived in Vietnam and had his first working day with VPF’s Chairman Vo Quoc Thang and VPF’s General Director Pham Ngoc Vien in HCM City.

The two sides reached an agreement, and the 58-year-old Japanese specialist has pledged to return Vietnam and sign a contract on February 7.

It is possible that Tanaka would act as head of V-League 2014’s organisation board immediately after the signing of the contract and would be the alternative to the incumbent Pham Ngoc Vien.

As planned, on the morning of January 11, Tanaka would attend an introduction ceremony for V-League 2014, which is to be held by VPF in HCM City.

That same afternoon he would watch a match between Dong Nai and V.Ninh Binh football teams under the framework of the opening ceremony of the Vietnam National Football Tournament.

It is hoped that Tanaka will help V-League improve its professionalism and quality of play and become as methodical as J-League of Japan.

Previously, another Japanese specialist, Tanabe, worked as a consultant to VPF’s Chairman Vo Quoc Thang. A short time later, Tanabe returned to Japan due to illness.
