Entitled Colour of Japan the series was co-produced by VTV and Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) television to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
"The series Colour of Japan will focus on green travel," said Nguyen Ha Nam, head of VTV’s Secretary Department at a press conference held at VTV headquarters recently. "The theme of this year aims to bring tourists through the small screen closer to nature and to introduce them to clean energy, environment friendly production and sustainable development."
This is the fourth season of Colour of Japan. The five-episode series will introduce the culture of five prefectures in Japan, namely Nagasaki, Kanagawa, Mie, Wakayama and Oita.
Oita Prefecture will once again be featured in the series to introduce geothermal electricity from hot springs, having also been spotlighted in the first season in 2016 for onsen culture.
"Oita is famous for its hot springs and prides itself in having the most onsens and the largest output of hot spring water in Japan," said MC Le Bao An.
Presenters An and actress Le Chi visited Japan for the first time to film the series.
"Onsen culture is diversified to surprise me a lot. I think there is only hot spring but there are more such as mud baths, clear hotsping, blue hotspring, and alkaline hotspring. You can experience various kinds of spring sources, and have many opportunities to enjoy hot springs," An said.
An and Chi will take audiences to peaceful rural areas where Japanese people maintain traditional living style. In mountainous Mie Prefecture, the two Vietnamese tried rice cooking with firewood and octopus catching in Kanagawa Prefecture.
"This year the theme of the series is distinctive," said Abe Junko, head of TBS’s Global Business Development. "The prefectures are not modern cities, they are small and very traditional."
The five episodes of the series will be screened on VTV channel 3 starting this week at 3.20pm on Fridays.
