VietNamNet Bridge – Some 70 per cent of agriculture freshmen have found jobs after six months of graduation and 91 per cent of them have been employed after a year, an agriculture expert said.

Students seek job opportunities at the Job Fair 2017, held last weekend in Ha Noi.

Director of Human Resources Supply Centre under the Viet Nam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), Nguyen Van Huyen, revealed the good news at the Job Fair 2017, held last weekend in Ha Noi. 

The fair aimed to boost connections between employers and job seekers across the country, particularly providing job opportunities for recent university graduates. 

Huyen said besides boosting close relations between the centre and employers, the university has intensified education and training on "soft skills” for students to help them be well prepared for work following graduation.

“Along with the Human Resource Supply Centre, which is regarded as a bridge for employers to approach high quality human resources, VNUA has set up a centre for foreign language education and business skills for students to help them find more job opportunities in foreign companies in the country and for them to study abroad in countries with modern and advanced agricultural development such as Japan, South Korea and Germany,” the official said. 

The job fair this year, according to Huyen, attracted attention from thousands of students, who gathered to get information on employment inquires that business enterprises posted on bulletin boards as well as displayed on recruitment desks at the fair. 

A total of 63 employers, the highest-ever number in the last several years, registered to provide more than 2,500 jobs with particular six recruitment agencies promising to offer unlimited employment opportunities. 

Tran My Trang and Nguyen Van Chien, second and last-year students from VNUA’s agricultural science and veterinary faculties, said they came to the fair with hope find jobs relevant to the training at school. 

The two students said all their learning and knowledge enabled them to meet most demands of the employers, barring the lack of work experience that could be a significant challenge when applying for a position after graduation.
