The 3-hour meeting helped the sports authorities understand the reason why Becamex could not allow Ly Hoang Nam’s participation in the national team for the Davis Cup.

After the meeting, VTF vice president and general secretary Nguyen Quoc Ky said: "The VTF has decided not to call Ly Hoang Nam for the upcoming Davis Cup because he will be busy at overseas tournaments."

Hoang Nam is now competing at the ITF tournament for juniors in Malaysia and after this event, he will go to the Philippines for next tournament.

This morning, March 12, VTF and Becamex met again to define Ly Hoang Nam’s schedule and his contribution for the national team in 2014. The greatest goal of this is to ensure Hoang Nam’s best development for the benefit of himself, his sponsor and the national team.

Both sides want to turn Hoang Nam into Vietnam’s pillar at the Asian Games.

Previously, the VTV threatened to punish Hoang Nam for his absence from the Davis Cup.

The newly-issued list of the national tennis squad for the Davis Cup includes: Do Minh Quan (player-coach), Nguyen Hoang Thien, Le Quoc Khanh, Pham Minh Tuan and Trinh Linh Giang.

The VTF also convened two coaches – Truong Quoc Bao (captain also) and Le Ngoc Tri. The federation will hire two foreign experts Michael Baroch and Phil Kelly.

The national tennis team will be in HCM City until March 23 and then move to Da Lat to prepare for the games against Sri Lanka.
