Phuc Loc Tay 1 bronze casting village in the central province of Khanh Hoa is very busy as the Tet holiday nears.

Nguyen Van Chau, 50, said that this is the traditional trade of the village, so generations always try to maintain it.

According to Chau, his family specialises in making lamp stands. Each lampstand is priced at between VND1.5 million (USD68.1) and VND3.5 million (USD159), depending on their size.

Nguyen Van Nhuong, chairman of the Phu Loc Co-operative, said that the bronze casting craft in the village dated back to the Tu Duc Dynasty. Currently, around 40 households in the village specialise in bronze casting

However, recent storms damaged roughly half of the village bronze casting moulds. So, many households face problems in their production.
