She drew with outstanding rivals China's Bai Xue and Azerbaijan's Zeynab Ismayilzada in the seventh and eighth match.
Before going to the last and ninth match, both Khanh and Assaubayeva of Kazakhstan had 7 points after eight matches. However, Khanh lost in the decisive match and took silver.
Khanh is now expected to become Viet Nam's master of chess. This year's world event, which took place between November 17-27, is a chess competition for girls and boys under the ages of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18.
Viet Nam triumphed in the world youth event such as the title of Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son in the boys' U-10, Le Quang Liem in the boys' U-12 and Le Minh Thang in U-10 event.
