The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang will host The National Tourism Year 2016 - Phu Quoc - Mekong Delta, with the motto “Discovering the Southern Land”.

Activities will be primarily held in Kien Giang and also in Hanoi, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Tien Giang, Hau Giang, and Ben Tre.

Events target to raise awareness about the tourism development and protection of island and marine resources.

The National Tourism Year also looks to promote the tangible and intangible cultural values and special tourism products of Kien Giang and the Delta.

An announcement ceremony for the Tourism Year will be held in January, an opening ceremony on April 30, 2016, and a closing ceremony later in the year.

Kien Giang province also has ambitious plans to increase its number of hotels and hostels to 375 with 8,575 rooms by the end of this year to meet the increasing demand of tourists next year.
