VietNamNet Bridge – The Korean director of the Posco E&C contractor and leaders of two construction groups were suspended while two deputy general directors of the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) were reprimanded.
20km out of 55km of the HCM City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway will be opened for traffic on December 30.
On December 26, VEC announced its penalties on the individuals and groups who were involved in the violations related to the construction of the Dau Giay Expressway.
Pham Hong Quang, VEC’s Deputy General Director, Le Manh Hung – Director and Ngo Tan Quang – Deputy Director of the Dau Giay Expressway Project were reprimanded.
VEC gave a warning to the managers of the bid package 3 of the Korean contractor Posco E&C and suspended Korean director of construction - Yang Cook and two Vietnamese leaders of the group in charge of building the poles along the expressway (Ruot Ngua section).
VEC also gave a warning to the Korean contractor Posco E&C, fired the group of builders who built the poles along the Ruot Ngua section and reprimanded the management board of the HCM City-Dau Giay Expressway and the supervision team.
According to VEC’s explanation, in design, the foundation of the concrete poles along the expressway is 1.2m deep but some contractors shortened the pole bases along the Ruot Ngua section to appropriate part of the construction funding. VEC asked the contractors to cover the payment for rebuilding these poles worth VND240 million ($12,000).
20km out of 55km of the HCM City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway will be opened for traffic on December 30, the section from the belt road No. 2 of HCM City to Highway 51 in Dong Nai province.
