E-Mart, a Korean retail giant, opened its first Pho restaurant at a supermarket in Goyang city in the Gyeonggi province on June 30.
E-Mart CEO Lee Gab-soo said the move is designed to promote Vietnamese cuisine and food products.
According to him, to preserve the original flavour, four chefs and all ingredients at the restaurant are from Vietnam . If the model operates successfully, it will be replicated at other E-mart supermarkets.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (RoK) Pham Huu Chi lauded the company’s initiative and hoped it would soon be multiplied within their store chains.
He proposed E-Mart boost its Vietnamese imports, especially food products.
E-mart boasts a chain of 148 supermarkets in the RoK with annual revenue reaching approximately 11 billion USD.
