A South Korean musical drama entitled ‘Look Back into Love – Orpheo’ will be performed in Hanoi for the first time at the Au Co Arts Centre on November 11.

The event is being organised by the Republic of Korea (RoK) Culture Center to mark the 18th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Republic of Korea diplomatic relations.

Choreographed by the Seoul Performing Arts Company, the play, which debuted in 2007, is a refreshing contemporary story based on the myth of Orpheo.

A couple of young dancers, Dong Wook and Uri, have fallen out of love and are about to split up. In the musical, they look back on their romantic love from the begininning until finally love returns to them once again. The play intertwines reality and myth and combines emotive melodies with traditional Korean, contemporary and jazz dances.

Keum Gi Hyung, Director of the Republic of Korea Culture Centre, said, “I want to introduce this kind of art to Vietnamese audiences as dance musical plays are now very popular and a favourite in not only the RoK but also around the world.”

“This will help strengthen cultural exchange and understanding between the two countries,” he added.

The show will begin at 7:30 pm at 8 Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Hanoi.
