VietNamNet Bridge – Lai Huong Thao, 21, from the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh became Miss Sports 2012 at the final competition on August 5 in Da Nang city.

Huong Thao, 1.67m, 89-61.5-91.5, a student from the Hai Phong People-Founded University, was among outstanding contestants. However, in the final competition she did not perform well as expected. Her silk dance was not perfect because the silk strip rolled into her body, because of strong wind. Her answer in the interview round was not as good as that of Duong Thi Ha Giang, who picked up a similar question.
Many audience guessed that Ha Giang would be the winner but finally Lai Huong Thao was crowned Miss Sports 2012.

Thao received a crown worth VND1 billion ($50,000) and VND100 million ($5,000) of cash. She will represent Vietnam at the Miss Supranational 2012 in Poland from August 25.
Ha Giang was the first runner-up. Ha Giang, 20, is a student of the Institute for International Relations.
The third place belonged to Giang Thi Chuong, 18, a H’mong ethnic girl from Son La province. Chuong is a student of the Central Art Teachers’ Training University.
The final competition was held on the peak of Ba Na Mount in Da Nang City. The audience had to cross a 5km road by cable cars to watch the competition.
