He is a candidate for the number one shirt largely due to his good form in the recently ended V.League 1 season.

The 25-year-old Hai Phong goalie kept 10 clean sheets for his team and conceded only 25 times in 25 matches, missing a 1-0 defeat to Can Tho due to injury.

In terms of clean sheets, the Vietnamese-Russian goalie had one more than Van Cong from Hanoi and two more than Tuan Manh from Khanh Hoa.

Bui Tien Dung, the main goalkeeper of U23 Viet Nam and Olympic Viet Nam, racked up seven clean sheets.

“This performance is great so far, but it is team effort. I will continue to try my best. I want to give my deep gratitude to my team mates at Hai Phong for their best support to me,” Lam said.

He and his teammates met in Hanoi yesterday to head to South Korea for training in preparation for the AFF Cup 2018.
